Etta Maynard

January 28, 1917 — February 22, 2003

MAYNARD, ETTA Etta Maynard, age 86, of Waco passed away Saturday, February 22, 2003 at a local nursing facility. Services will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with the Rev. Drew Wilson and Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Monday, February 24, 2003 at the funeral home. Mrs. Maynard was born January 28, 1917 in Mills County to James Wesley and Josephine Carroll. She married Clarence B. Maynard June 23, 1934. He preceded her in death August 10, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carroll L. Maynard and a great-granddaughter, Sally Hosch. Mrs. Maynard worked for Wolfe Bros. Manufacturing and also for the Junior League of Waco Thrift Shop, “The Penny Pincher”, for many years before she retired. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together before his death. They were avid bowlers and before her failed health, she participated in many state tournaments. She loved her Friendship Sunday School Class and her church, Park Lake Drive Baptist, where she was active for many years. She particularly enjoyed the Busy Beavers. She loved to play dominoes and other table games with family and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Survivors include daughter, Belva Hesse & husband Leon of Woodway; son, Doyle Maynard and wife Stevie of Ft Worth; daughter-in-law, Rosie Maynard of Kentucky; Grandchildren, Kyle Hesse of Richmond, Kirk Hesse of Baytown, Karon Hesse of Colorado, Kim Ferris of Waco, Doyle Maynard, Jr of Arlington, Jeff Maynard & wife Marjanette of Burleson, Craig Maynard & wife Suzanne of Weatherford, Laura Oakley & husband Joe of Burleson and Deborah Oglesby & husband Ray of Kentucky. 19 great-grandchildren and a longtime special friend and companion, Ed Smith of Waco.
