Etta Mildred Schaffer Dunham September 29, 1913 – January 21, 2007 Etta Mildred Schaffer Dunham died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital. Graveside services will be at 9:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 24 at Waco Memorial Park followed by a 10:30 A.M. memorial service at First Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Walker and Dr. Herb Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Etta was born in LaGrange, Missouri on September 29, 1913. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Waco. She taught a third grade Sunday School Class for over thirty years, was active in the Women’s Missionary Union, the Mature Adult Growing in Christ MAGIC Club, worked with and later supervised the running of a sewing class for the church. She was an expert seamstress. Mildred and Lee traveled extensively with the Holiday Rambler Camping Club. They were active with the Baylor retirees. She was a gentle loving lady who enjoyed caring for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Grace Bissegger Schaffer and one sister, Louise Schaffer Wright. She is survived by her husband, N. Lee Dunham. They were married on February 10, 1923. Plans were already underway for the celebration of their 75th wedding anniversary. She was the mother of three children, Grace Dunham Craghead and husband, Robert of Fulton, Missouri, Cecil Lee Dunham and wife, Phyllis and Louise Dunham Thaxton Stafford and husband, Lee all of Waco, Texas. She had seven grandchildren, Paul Craghead and wife, Patsy, Kem Craghead and wife, Sue, Constance Craghead Oliver and husband, Brian all of Fulton Missouri; Craig Dunham, Susan Dunham Anz and husband, Jeff of Waco, Texas; Tammy Thaxton Smith and husband, Damon of Arlington, Texas, and Richard Thaxton of Katy, Texas. There are seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Foundation, 500 Webster, Waco, Texas 76706.
