Eugene Jack Van Zandt November 27, 1922 - November 28, 2010 Eugene Jack Van Zandt of Waco passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, at First Baptist Church, Waco, with Dr. Matt Snowden officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Jack was born November 27, 1922, in Dallas, to Eugene Garrett Van Zandt and Elsa Rose McGlasson. He graduated from Waco High School in 1940 and received a BBA from Baylor in 1944. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1946 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Helen Wolf. Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father and faithful friend. He was an active father in spirit to a neighborhood of children, leading them in many games, adventures and plenty of barbeque and love. Jack led by example with fairness, honesty and hard work. He worked for the Nash Robinson Company early in his career. He represented the Rob Roy Clothing Company of New York for many years until his retirement. He loved traveling throughout the world with his wife and friends. He was an avid reader and Dallas Cowboy's fan. He enjoyed the outdoors-- hunting boating and fishing Lake Waco and vacations in Port Aransas. You could find him every morning spending time with his trusted friends, enjoying their morning cups of coffee at the local mall. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Helen Van Zandt; daughter, Katherine Howard of Houston; sons-in-law, Michael Howard of Houston and Sam Isenhower of Liberty Hill; and two sisters, Sarah Katherine Perry of Waco and Rose Albritton of Houston. Survivors include daughters, Janet Bass of Waco, Suzanne and husband, Hank Durham, of Waco, and Suzanne Isenhower of Liberty Hill; 5 grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Jason Attas, of Waco, Margaret and husband, John Burk, of Summit, New Jersey, Julie and husband, Darryl Zavodny, of Austin, Lauren and husband, Tim Ribelin, of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Patrick Howard of Houston, and Heather Wilson of Liberty Hill; and 5 great grandchildren. Other extended family includes relatives: Ray Perry, Bruce Perry, Gene Perry, Neva Herring, and Elsa Jean Looser. Pallbearers are: Jason Attas, John Burk, Patrick Howard, Bert King, Shelby King, Tom McKinney, Tim Ribelin and Darryl Zavodny. Honorary pallbearers are: Ed Aigner, Jack Cunnick, Ruel Dixon, Bud Gervig, Walter Hunter, Edgar Jablonowski, Tom Parrish and Silas Thompson.
