COLIAS, EUGENIA Eugenia Colias, age 89 of Dallas, formerly of Waco passed away Sunday, September 21, 2003 at a Dallas hospital. Services will be held at 11:30am Friday, September 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Father Ted Tsitsilianos and Father Nick Katinas officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Trisagion service will be held at 8pm Thursday, September 25 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy Chapel, Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Colias was born on September 14, 1914 in Karitsa, Lakonia Sparta, Greece, the daughter of John and Panagiota Malavazos. She was wed to George Colias, co-founder of Waco’s Elite Café, in 1933 in Poulithra, Greece, and moved with him to Waco, Texas for a marriage lasting 60 years. As a young bride, she provided a warm home to relatives. She was active in the Greek-American community in Waco and, after its establishment, in the parish of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church. Eugenia was a talented woman, known for her cooking and artistic work, including oil painting, which she took up in her sixties. Most importantly, as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she was known for her commitment and warmth to her many relatives and friends. In 1996, she moved to Dallas to be close to her two daughters. As a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church and later the Treemont Retirement Community in Dallas, she was able to be near old friends and make special new ones. She will be deeply missed by all. May her memory be eternal. She was preceded in death by her husband George and siblings Demetrios, Antigone, and Vasilios, she is survived by her children, Evelyn Katsigris, Nick Colias, John Colias, and Patricia Antoniou, daughter-in-law Mary Colias, sons-in-law Costas Katsigris and Theodore Antoniou, grandchildren Phyllis Spinale, Eugenia Katsigris, and Dimitri and George Antoniou, grandson-in-law Paul Spinale, and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Peter, and Emma Spinale.
