Eunice Allyne Watson Linda passed away on August 4 into the loving arms of her Savior and Lord at Providence Ascension Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 am Tuesday, August 10, at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Kelsey Fitting-Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, August 9, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Wilkirson-Hatch- Bailey Funeral Home. The family requests that guests at the visitation wear masks to protect against COVID-19. Eunice was born to James E. and Lillie Watson. She graduated from Waco High School in January, 1948, at the age of 16. On December 10, 1954, she married John Curtis Linda, of Mobridge, South Dakota. To this union, a son, John Watson Linda was born. John and Eunice celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary last year. Out of high school, she was first employed by Swift and Company as a bookkeeper. She then served as secretary to the Director of Aviation at Waco Municipal Airport until her retirement. Upon her retirement, she volunteered as a Literacy and GED teacher for fifteen years at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She had been an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she served in various leadership roles at the local church and synod level. She also served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Lone Star Region of the National Model Railroad Association for 28 years. Eunice was a force of light in all our lives. There was nothing more important to her than family. She was our greatest encourager and cheerleader throughout our lives. She loved attending Lady Bear Basketball games and Baylor football games. Baylor Homecoming was enjoyed each year by a special gathering of friends who became extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Lillie Watson; her brother, James Watson, and beloved cousin, Elsie Allen. Eunice is survived by her loving husband, John C. Linda; son, John W. Linda and wife, Carol; two beloved grandsons, Bradley Linda; Matt Linda and wife, Brittney and a great-granddaughter due in December and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 800, N. New Road, Waco, TX 76710 or your charity of choice. The family invites you to share a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
