Eunice Ledbetter Davis November 2, 1912-October 31, 2007 Eunice Margaret Ledbetter Davis was quite a lady—strong, determined, independent and filled with love for her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. A lifelong resident of Speegleville, Texas, she passed away October 31, 2007, two days prior to her 95th birthday. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque, in Waco with Rev. Ron Durham and Chaplain Brian Pendleton officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, November 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Eunice, the third of eight children, was born November 2, 1912, in Speegleville to Richard H. Ledbetter and Mae Lou Lillard Ledbetter. She graduated from Speegleville High School; attended nursing college; and obtained a certificate from Four-C Business College. Eunice was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church for many years and a present member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Eunice had two wonderful husbands in her lifetime. On April 23, 1933, she married Carl Buice, who died a year later in an explosion and fire. In 1937 she married her husband of 50 years, Jefferson V. Davis, Sr., of South Bosque. Mrs. Davis was a devoted farmer’s wife, who loved country living and loved her cat, Crystal. In addition to farm duties, she reared a family and worked 20 years for the Department of Agriculture, Stabilization and Conservation. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Joe, Dick and Tom Ledbetter; sisters Bonnie Lee Ewing and Lina Mae Ferguson. Survivors include her son, Jeff Davis, and wife, Jean, of Speegleville; daughters, Carolyn Love and husband, Bill, of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Bonnie “Missy” Davis of Robinson; brothers, Glenn and Jackie Ledbetter, and John and Frances Ledbetter of Speegleville; five grandchildren, Joycie and Gary Pustejovsky of Abbott, Donna and Dub Holmes of Crawford, Mark and Tammy Perry of Crawford, Scott and Margaret Perry of Flower Mound, and Diana and Mark Stodola of Tyler. Great grandchildren are Carly and Christopher Pustejovsky, Kaitlyn and Jeffrey Holmes, Mason and Megan Perry, Trent and Jacob Perry, Anna and Mitchell Stodola; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Richard Ewing, Lamar Ewing, Terry Ledbetter, Gary Ledbetter, Phil Ledbetter and Craig Ledbetter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue at 6321 Airport Drive, Waco TX 76708, or to Providence Hospice at 4830 Lakewood Drive, Suite 2, Waco TX 76710.
