Mrs. Villafaa was born March 29, 1913 in the state of San Luis Potosi in the north central area of Mexico to Pedro and Blasa Sanchez. In the early 1930's the family settled in Asa, Texas. It was here where she met the love of her life, Amado Villafaa. They were married on January 19, 1935. From this union ten children were born, from this point on she was affectionately known as "Mama" to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Early on in life, Mama learned the "art of prayer" from her mother and the importance of serving God whole heartedly. She was a long time member of St. Francis Church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas and the Third Order Society; she also loved singing in the choir. When it came to fundraising for the church, Mama always gave her time and effort. Along with her many duties and chores she always found time to teach Catechism not only to her immediate family, but to neighbors in the surrounding area as well. She left a legacy of giving, of faith, and serving God. Mama's hobbies included quilting, embroidery and creating beautiful flower gardens, in which passersby would stop and take photographs. She was also a fantastic cook, known for her fried chicken and Mama's bread. She was often the person neighbors came to for help; she always knew what to do in cases of emergencies. She was an unselfish person, who always wanted to help people any way she could. Mama was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Amado Villafaa; her sisters, Maria & Nicolasa Sanchez; and her brothers, Esequiel & Luis Sanchez. She is survived by her loving children, Guadalupe V. Lopez of Waco, Frances Quinones and husband, Salome, of Downsville, Nicolasa Nancy Villafaa of Downsville, Donna V.
