She graduated from Baylor University in 1936 with a degree in education and on November 6, 1937 she married Ray Graves. Both were life-long members of the Central Presbyterian Church of Waco where Beanie served as both elder and deacon and in leadership positions in the Women’s Association. Beanie and Ray were long-time members of the Berean Bible Class. She and Ray lived in Waco from 1937 until 1954 when they moved to Norwalk, Connecticut where they were members of Norwalk Congregational Church. Beanie taught elementary school while there. They returned to Waco and Central Presbyterian Church in 1959. Following Ray’s retirement in 1969, they traveled widely as a part of International Executive Service Corps, with assignments in Indonesia, Thailand, Colombia and Greece. After Ray’s death in 1978, Beanie continued traveling with her friends to Russia, Scotland, Spain and other locations. She frequently visited her children and grandchildren in their homes around the country. With the loving support of her family and Ray’s careful planning, she was able to remain in her home during her long illness. Survivors include five children: James Preston Graves, Mary Graves Boyce, Samuel Bean Graves, Allan Paul Graves and Sally Graves Maddox; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Ray Graves in 1978. Memorial gifts may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, Waco, Texas.
