SANCHEZ, EVAN GEORGE Evan George Sanchez, age 16, of China Spring died Sunday, June 1, 2003. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, June 4 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Vaverek and Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6pm Tuesday, June 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with visitation to follow until 9pm. Evan was born in Waco to Laura and Tony Sanchez on December 6, 1986. He attended St. Louis Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade. After he graduated from St. Louis, he attended China Spring High School. Evan had just finished his sophomore year in high school at the time his death. He was a member of the China Spring Varsity Baseball team where he had just completed a successful year holding the highest batting average on the team. He played on numerous teams, including basketball and soccer, but baseball was his first love. He was an honor student at China Spring High School and a member of The National Beta Club. He was identified by Duke University as a high potential student with a bright future. He was a kind hearted young man who made friends in every area of his life. Some of his goals for this year were to make the Varsity Baseball Team and to be a top student in his class; he achieved both of his goals. His summer plans included lifeguarding, playing baseball with the Centex Vipers Select Baseball Team and enjoying time with friends. Luke always looked up to his big brother. Survivors include parents, Tony and Laura Sanchez; brother, Luke; maternal grandparents, George and Teresa Stephenson; paternal grandparents, Felipe and Rebecca Sanchez; aunts, Carmen Sanchez, Lisa Pendergrass and husband, Rod, Jane Wright and husband, John, and Julie Sparks; uncles, Phil Sanchez, III and wife, Jeanie, Stephen Sanchez and wife, Marie, and Armando Sanchez and wife, Cecilia and numerous cousins. Pallbearers will be Ryan Bachik, Paul Coffee, Grant Ruhter, Ron Ruhter, Phil Sanchez, Stephen Sanchez, Brandon Sparks, and China Spring Varsity Baseball Team Memorials may be made to Evan G.
