Evelyn Adele Edwards went home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 23, 2021. She passed away at home, surrounded by her family. Services will be Friday, May 28th at 10:00 am with Kip Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff. Visitation will be Thursday, May 27th at Wilkerson Hatch Bailey from 6:00 to 8:00. Evelyn was born in San Antonio, Texas to Hazel Stanaland Owens and Robert Owens on July 28, 1930. She graduated in 1948 from Harlandale High School in San Antonio, Texas. She later moved to Waco and started working at Rocketdyne in McGregor as a key punch operator. There she met the love of her life, Billy Edwards, and the two were married in 1955. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on November 26th, 2019, but Billy passed in March of that year. Evelyn later worked at Central Texas Iron Works as a secretary in the drafting department for 20 years and retired in 1992. She was a devoted mother and faithful member of Western Heights Baptist Church. Evelyn and Billy had a farm and she spent countless days at the farm searching for and collecting arrowheads. Evelyn loved collecting depression glass, hummels, and precious moments figurines. Because of failing health, Evelyn and Billy moved in with their daughter and son-in-law 4 years ago where they lived until their passing. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Billy, parents Hazel Stevenson and Robert Owens, sister Catherine Owens, and brother Bobby Owens. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Guerrero, and husband, Charlie, of Crawford; two granddaughters, Ashley Blackwell of McGregor, Andrea Sams and husband Kyle of Woodway; a grandson, Jacey Guerrero and wife Ashley of McKinney; five greatgrandchildren, Summer Guerrero, Avery and Rylee Blackwell, Kyleigh Subialdea and Talon Sams; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mary Uptmore for caring for them the last four years and their granddaughter, Ashley 3 years prior to that. They would also would like to thank Providence Hospice for the exceptional care they provided: Kathy, Laura, Audie, Jenny, and Luke. Memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church and Providence Hospice.
