June 4, 1920 — June 15, 2005

Clifton, Evelyn M. Evelyn M. Clifton, 85, of Waco, passed away June 15, 2005 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be Monday, June 20 at 11:30 AM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, June 19 from 2 to 4:00 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque. Mrs. Clifton was born June 4, 1920 to John Irvin and Lena Dean Fuqua. The Fuqua family resided in the area of South 9th and Dutton near Baylor University. There she met her childhood sweetheart, Willard D. Clifton, who she later married November 9, 1940. Mrs. Clifton attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1938. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church and the Dorcus Sunday school class. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile and the Better Halves Shriner Bowling Team. Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Willard D. Clifton, Sr. in 1997. She is survived by a daughter, Dolores Dee Huggins of Montgomery, Texas; two sons, Willard Clifton, Jr. and wife Cindy of Salado and Larry Clifton and wife Denise of Leroy; grandchildren, Mark Clifton, Stacy Sawyer, Ryon Clifton, Crystal Clifton, Candyce Clifton and Kamille Clifton; great grandchildren, Matthew Clifton and Shelby Sawyer and brother, John Irvin Fuqua. Memorials may be made to Grace Temple Baptist Church, 3825 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas 76710.
