Evelyn Kelley January 3, 1916 – June 16, 2006 Evelyn Mary Kelley, 90, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father Albert LaForet officiating. Rosary will be at 6 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2006 with visitation to follow at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Evelyn was born January 3, 1916 in Hiles, Wisconsin to Sara and Frederick Plouff. She graduated from high school in Rhinelander, Wisconsin before moving to Chicago, Illinois where she pursued a career in the fashion industry. In Chicago she met Herbert Kelley at the Aragon Ballroom and they were later married on June 30, 1939 in Covington, Indiana. She most enjoyed baking and is famous among family and friends for her best ever peanut brittle. She is also remembered for her superb sewing skills. Fortunate are those who have one of her beautiful quilts. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents and three siblings. She is survived by her loving husband, Herbert of Waco; daughters, Carol Lewis of Sarasota, FL and Cathy Ratcliff and her husband, Bob of Waco; son, Michael Kelley and his wife, Debby of Canyon Lake, TX; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother and a host of nieces and nephews.
