The celebration of a wonderful and full life will allow family and friends to share in her memory and of the many good things she accomplished for the cause of Christ during her 92 years of life. Evelyn, the oldest of three siblings, was born September 22, 1917, in Bisbee, Arizona to Vernon and Lizzy Ward. She attended Bisbee Public Schools and after graduation began a brief career as a buyer for Phelps Dodge clothing store in Bisbee. She met Joe Huey as a result of an accident he suffered while working in the copper mines in Bisbee during the war. Vernon Ward, Evelyn's Dad, suggested she go visit this young man from Arkansas who was in the hospital following the injury. He had been visiting the church they attended and as a result of this visit a romance began which lasted over fifty years of marriage before Joe Huey passed away in 1995. They were a team in life as well as in work as Evelyn supported Joe in his business as an Atlantic Richfield Oil Distributor. It was a love story to emulate for others. The church and friends made through service and worship strengthened and encouraged Evelyn for many years. No matter where she lived, her desire to worship and share with other believers was of significant importance for her. The past few years, Evenly lived with her sister-in-law, Wanda Ward, in Creswell, Oregon. These years of fellowship together, going to Bible studies, delivering Meals on Wheels, and doing something together most everyday was a blessing beyond measure. Wanda and Evelyn were a great team and one that served to encourage each other through circumstances of life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Huey; parents, Vernon and Lizzie Ward; sister, Betty Ward Jenkins; and brother, Clyde Vernon Ward. She is survived by sons, Bill Huey and wife, Carol, of California and Jim Huey and wife, Susan of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Michelle Huey Molina and husband, Paul, Josh Huey, Sosa Huey of California, Trent Huey and wife, Kourtny, Natalie Riley and husband, Travis of Texas, Kirk Bender and wife, Felicia and Bryan Bender of California, Cathey Huey, Sonny Huey and wife, Nina of Bauxite, Arkansas; and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Bill Huey, Jim Huey, Trent Huey, Sonny Huey, Travis Riley and Sam Moore. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
