Evelyn Helen Wuebker Kahanek October 2, 1923 - May 23, 2007 Evelyn Helen Wuebker Kahanek of Waco passed away at her home Wednesday, May 23, 2007 after a lengthy battle with arthritis. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at St. John United Church of Christ in Robinson with Pastor Glenn E. Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Evelyn was born October 2, 1923 in the Hillside area of Robinson, the daughter of August and Helena Hahn Wuebker. She attended Rosenthal schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1941. She graduated from Four C Business College in Waco with a secretarial certificate, starting a career in secretary work. Prior to secretarial work Evelyn was employed with Owens-Illinois Glass Plant for several years. She was employed as a secretary with Youngblood Inc., Citizens National Bank and the City of Waco. She was a life-long member of St. John United Church of Christ in Robinson having been baptized and confirmed by the Rev. John Strauss. Evelyn married Henry L. Kahanek on December 15, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by several sisters and brothers, as well as her parents. She is survived by one brother, William Bill Wuebker and wife, Virginia of Robinson, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are nephews: Charles Kirk, Carl Kirk, Cardinal Wuebker, Daniel Battershell, Christopher Battershell and Robert Lee Kahanek. Evelyn’s family wants to extend a special thanks to her care-givers, Linda Kendricks and Katherine Whiting.
