Evelyn Youngblood Bryan April 19, 1924-March 5, 2018 Evelyn “Mickey” Youngblood Bryan, 93, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. John Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Evelyn was born April 19, 1924, in Cedar Hill, Texas, to Lafayette Herbert “L.H.” Sims and Nellie Elliott Sims. She grew up in Oak Cliff, graduating from Sunset High School and Secretarial School in Dallas. She married James Douglas Scoggins on May 18, 1946. To this union was born one son, Robert Douglas Scoggins. On September 28, 1957, she married J.W. Youngblood and moved to Waco, where she has made her home. She and Weldon were active in the Waco Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Waco and its respective foundation, First Baptist Church of Waco and the FMCA Motor Coach Association. Through these organizations, Mickey developed many relationships that have remained friends throughout her life. She especially cherished her friendships through her bridge clubs. On September 13, 2003, she married James V. Bryan. They were members of First Woodway Baptist Church and participated in Meals on Wheels. Mickey and James loved to dance and enjoyed being with their friends and families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bob Scoggins, Weldon Youngblood, and James Bryan; and brother, Herman Sims. She is survived by her son, Robert Douglas “Doug” Scoggins and wife, Linda; grandson, Chris Scoggins and wife, Sarah; granddaughter, Julie Schronk and husband, Brian; great-granddaughters, Lauren Holt and husband, Cody, and Shawna Schronk; brother, Gordon Sims; nephews, Gordon Sims, Jr., and wife, Monika, and Steve Sims and wife, Janice; and niece, Suzanne Hall and husband, Dell. Pallbearers are Jim Bryan, Mike Guggenbickler, Brian Schronk, Gordon Sims Jr., Wayne Smith, and Robert Brewer. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Arbor House, where she spent her last days. Memorials may be made to her hospice caregivers at Interim Healthcare Foundation, 2420 Wycon Dr., Suite 401, Waco Texas 76712.
