Floyd Darvin Parnell April 11, 1929 April 6, 2011 Floyd Darvin Parnell, age 81, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive guests from 6:00 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Floyd was born in Durango, Texas, Falls County, to Frank and Fannie Burdick Parnell. He attended school in Durango, Lott and Troy. Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Ann Redding. They were married 35 years and had three children before Ann's death. Floyd worked at Cameron Mills, International Paper Company, and finally Bank of America formerly Citizen's Bank where he was working at the time of his retirement in 1986. Floyd met his second wife, Lena Tickell Parnell, in 1985, at the bank where he worked. Floyd and Lena married in June, 1985. Floyd was a wonderful Christian husband, father, and grandfather. As a member of the Lake Shore Church of Christ, he served as a teacher, deacon and elder. For many years, Floyd worked for the Lord tirelessly and will be greatly missed. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene Jaster, brothers, Virgil Parnell and Luther Parnell, and his first wife, Ann Parnell. Floyd is survived by his wife, Lena Parnell of Waco, sons, Mike Parnell and wife, Kelly of Hewitt, Keith Parnell and wife, Bobbie, of Waco, and daughter, Cindy Wells and husband, Wayne, of Tennessee; step-sons, George Tickell of Houston and Kenneth Tickell and wife, Darlene, of Kennedale; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Trent Gardner, Steve White, Mike Combs, Jay Duncan, John Garland, Kevin Farley. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny and Darlene Henderson, Martin and Faye Aycock, Carl and Joyce Sims, Billy and Joyce Smith, Gene and Pat Kroll, and Billy Richardson.
