Frances Adams Barnes November 21, 1917 - March 28, 2008 Frances Adams Barnes of Waco passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at Regent Care Center. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008 at Bartlett City Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Bartlett City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Frances was born November 21, 1917 in Raymondville, TX to Ed and Josephine Adams. She grew up in Bartlett, TX, where she graduated from high school in 1935. Following her graduation she worked for Western Union. In 1940 she married R. C. Barnes, Jr., who was an Engineer with the Soil Conservation Service. He later served as a pilot and Captain in the U. S. Air Corps in the Pacific, and during this period, Frances worked for a bank in Austin. Returning home, R. C.'s service continued with the Soil Conservation Service, which led to their living in Harlingen, Temple, Ft. Worth, Richmond, VA and Washington, D. C., where he retired. They moved to Waco in 1977 to be near their families. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Frances loved her family, and her greatest joy was making friends, knowing their families, and visiting with them in person, by phone, and by writing letters. She always remembered and acknowledged all their birthdays and other special occasions. Preceding her in death were her husband, R. C., her parents and a brother, E. L. Adams, Jr., and a sister, LaNelle Adams. Survivors are her loving son, Bruce B. L. Barnes and wife, Gigi; sister, Elaine Adams, all of Waco; a sister-in-law, Sally Fuller of Glen Rose and several cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for Senior Ministry Meals on Wheels, P. O. Box 85, Waco, TX 76703.
