Frances J. Griffin June 9, 1924 - May 29, 2009 Frances J. Griffin of Waco passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at Wesley Woods Alzheimer's Care Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, at Seventh & James Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Frances was born June 9, 1924, in Aledo, TX, to Martin and Grace Sears Jones. She attended Austin High School and the University of Texas. She owned a fabric shop, was a member of the Waco Gem and Mineral Club, was an avid camper and fisherman, and worked with Texas Emergency Services as a volunteer. She was a member of Seventh and James Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 58 years, Sam J. Griffin; and her twin sister, Helen Jones Tharp; also infant granddaughters, Lisa Brown and Shelli Griffin. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Thomas and husband, Ben; Peggy Johnson and husband, Bob; sons, Sam Griffin and wife, Becky; and Donald Griffin and wife, Shelli; grandchildren, Stephen Brown and wife, Abby; Allen Brown and wife, Laurie; David Brown and wife, Prissy; Michael Brown and wife, Regina; Kassie Mercer and husband, Michael; Gilbert Griffin and wife, Traci; Gregory Griffin and wife, Jennifer; Toni Garcia and husband, Ruben; Bob J. Johnson; Daniel Johnson and Samantha Griffin; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; and her sister, Verla Haston. Pallbearers are the grandsons, Stephen Brown, Allen Brown, David Brown, Michael Brown, Bob J. Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Gil Griffin and Greg Griffin.
