Frances Ortega May 11, 1928 - May 30, 2014 Frances Ortega of Waco passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Ed. Karasek as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin 6:00 p.m. and Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Frances was born May 11, 1928, in Chilton, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of Agustin and Nicolasa Torres. She was a devoted wife of 65 years to Joe Ortega, as well as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Association of Guadalupanas and Eucharistic Ministers. Frances was a woman who had a strong faith in God. Many people were drawn to her for spiritual guidance and support and she was always available for them. She enjoyed many different occupations in her lifetime, including homemaker, seamstress, social services and floral entrepreneur. The lifelong hobby that brought her the most pleasure was arts and crafts. She lovingly spent hours creating arrangements and painting ceramics for family and friends, especially the friends she made while on hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Antonio Tony Ortega; granddaughter, Alicia Ortega; sisters, Janie Ramirez and Dionisia Torrez; brothers, Gabriel Torrez, and Nick Torrez. She is survived by her loving husband Joe Ortega of Waco; daughter, Adelaida Della Kone of Waco; grandchildren Kerry Sosa and husband, Paul, Andrea Ortega Wells and husband, Britton, Kristopher Kone and Tina Pecina, Brandon Ortega, and Jennifer, Nathan Ortega and Brittany; and great-grandchildren, Lacy, Abigail, Deliana, Kristopher, Jr., Sabrina, Maleki, Bode, and Izelle; brother, Simon Torrez and wife, Guadalupe, of Plano, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Kristopher Kone, Sr., Kristopher Kone, Jr., Hector Torrez, Gabriel Torrez, Jr., Paul Sosa, and Gabriel Contreras.
