Frank Dillard Thomas, Sr. June 20, 1924 - February 25, 2007 Frank Dillard Thomas, Sr., 82, of Waco went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at a local hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with burial following at Waco Memorial Park. Brother Roy Marshall and Pastor Mike Murphy, son-in-law, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Frank was born to Frank Dillard Thomas and Evelyn Scheid Thomas on June 20, 1924, in Sherman, Texas. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1942. He then served in the U.S. Army in the 24th Armored Engineers Battalion, 4th Armored Division ETO during WWII. After returning to the United States, he met the love of his life, Jean Donoho, and they were married on December 21, 1947. He graduated from North Texas State University in 1949. Frank and Jean moved to Freer, Texas, where they raised their two children. They owned and operated Freer Motor Company for 38 years. Frank was very active in community service and church leadership in Freer. After retiring in 1989, he and his wife, Jean, moved to Waco, Texas to be close to their two children and five grandchildren. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Hewitt. He served as a deacon and was involved with the transportation committee. He was also involved with the Meals on Wheels program. He loved his family and his church dearly. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Frank will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Donoho Thomas; son, Frank Jr. and wife, Jan; daughter, Donna Murphy and husband, Mike; sister, Molly Revels and husband, Cliff; grandchildren, Ryan Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Ashley Tullous and husband, Heath; Adam Murphy and Alan Murphy; great-granddaughter, Kylie Tullous. Pallbearers are Joe Briley, James Holdbrook, Joe Perry, Billy Spivey, Dale Troop and Jack Tucker. All are deacons and members of his “Glory Bound” Sunday School class.
