Fred Radle

March 26, 1928 — May 3, 2013

Fred Radle March 26, 1928 May 3, 2013 After a difficult journey, Fred Radle, 85, passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 3, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital with his daughter at his side. Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, May 6, at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Price officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Fred was born in Waco on March 26, 1928, the youngest child to Fritz and Lily Gaskamp Radle. His childhood was spent in Golinda, Downsville, and McGregor. He attended South Bosque schools. He was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran on April 29, 1928, and confirmed there on March 29, 1942. He was a faithful life-long member of St. Mark and was proud to have four generations of his family as faithful members. In 1952, Fred began two of his long-term commitments, started his 38 year career with Montgomery Ward Service Dept on April 29 and his marriage on August 29 to Kathleen Scott. A daughter, Paula Kay, was born to Fred and Kathleen on April 9, 1963. Kathleen died 6 weeks before their 50Th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2002. Fred served in the U.S. Army for two years from March 1955 to March 1957 stationed in Okinawa. Fred was a man of strong faith, morals, and convictions, he made sure all these were passed on to his "kids", we all knew where Dad would stand on just about any subject. Although he worked on lawn mowers, there was not anything that Fred could not fix. He enjoyed helping anybody that asked for or needed help and spent most of his time "piddling" as he called it in his garage. He loved old cars and could tell you about each one he had owned. He was a member of the Central Texas Studebaker Drivers Club. Fred was happiest when he was outdoors, whether working or playing. He loved to deer hunt and always had good times with his hunting buddies at their lease in Clifton. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen; his brother, Curry Radle; and a very special nephew, Jake Whaley. Left to live his legacy is his daughter, Paula Lightfoot and her husband, Tracy of Woodway; two grandsons, Kevin Lightfoot of Belton and Keith Lightfoot of Woodway; one sister, Marine Street of Fort Worth; several beloved nieces and nephews as well as a special niece, Betty Whaley, of Woodway. Pallbearers are Kevin Lightfoot, Keith Lightfoot, Charles Street, David McKinney, Dennis Street, and Bobby Luedke. Honorary pallbearers are Tracy Lightfoot, Betty Whaley, Paul and Jewell Zimmerman, Joe Jarosek, Freddie Lamb, Janice Kriegel, the "team" at Scott & White Hospice, and the many other friends that have cared for Dad over the years. I am eternally grateful for your presence in mine and Dad's lives. If lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be directed to St Mark Lutheran Church, 2000 Clay, Waco, 76706.
