Ray, Gene Freddie Eugene Ray, 67, passed away Monday, May 9, 2005 at his residence. Services will be Thursday, May 12 at 11:30 AM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, May 11 from 6 – to 8:00 PM at 6101 Bosque. Gene was born August 12, 1937 in Waco to A. B. and Lela Ray. He was a self employed concrete contractor at Ray Brothers Concrete. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Ray. He is survived by his loving wife and faithful companion, Bettie B. J. Ray; daughters, Cindy Schroeder and husband, Paul of Beaumont, Penny Savant and husband, Mike of Port Neches; son, Mark Stelly of Garland; grandchildren, Misty and Justin Pierson, Ashley Schroeder, Stacy Savant, Holly Schroeder and Haley Savant; one great grandchild, Walker Paul; sisters, Sissy Mercer and husband, Billy Fred of China Spring and Peggy Gunter and husband, Lex; brother, Snook Ray and wife Shirley of China Spring and numerous nieces and nephews and Daddy’s precious baby girl, “Sassi”. We will miss you Dad, “Poppee”, brother and uncle. You will be in our thoughts and hearts forever, until we meet again.
