G. Bruce Barron May 31, 1920 - November 15, 2013 G. Bruce Barron, 93, of Axtell passed away Friday, November 15, 2013. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, at Axtell Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Treadwell officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Bruce was born May 31, 1920, to a pioneer Central Texas family, long associated with the Axtell area, to parents, Claude Crawford and Elva Holley Barron. He graduated from Axtell High School and attended John Tarleton & Texas A&M. He served in the Air Force as a Captain flying 55 B25 missions over "The Hump: in the CBI theater. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as many other medals from both the American and Chinese governments. After a brief career at Air Traffic Control Center at Euless and Kelly Field, he and his wife, Fae, began a long career in the Registered Brangus Cattle business, to which he was much respected as a cattleman's "Cattle Man." His brangus cattle were established in seven different countries in both Asia and South America to improve the quality of cattle being bred in developing countries to improve the quality of beef. Mr. Barron was a fifth generation rancher. He received the Family Land Heritage Award in 1994; for having land in the family for over 100 years. This land has been passed down to his two sons. Bruce was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Fae Barron; his eldest son, Stephen Lee Barron; and his only brother, Al C. Barron. He is survived by two sons, Brian Ray Barron and C. Claude Barron; two grandchildren, Travis Barron and Brianne Cuadro; great granddaughter, Emma Hailey Cuadro; and several nieces and nephews.
