Gabriel ''Gabe'' Lopez

LOPEZ, GABRIEL “GABE” Gabriel “Gabe” Lopez, age 69 of Waco died Monday, September 8, 2003 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday, September 12 at St. Louis Catholic Church with The Rev. Msgr. Mark Deering and The Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7pm Thursday, September 11 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Lopez was born March 18, 1934 in Waco to Jose and Ymelda Lopez. He was a graduate of Waco High School. He married Julia Santos January 11, 1958; they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2003. They shared two sons, Andrew Joseph Lopez in 1959 and Mark David Lopez in 1966 and were blessed with two grandsons, Devin Michael in 1996 and Corbin Andrew in 2001. He spent fifteen years as a baker for Jewel Bakery and was a co-owner of Holiday Cleaner and rental properties in Chicago, Illinois. He retired to his hometown of Waco and has spent the last 27 years as a real estate investor. Mr. Lopez was a member of Our Lady of Devine Love Prayer Group, LULAC, Centex Chamber of Commerce, Historic Waco, and an EOAC Board Member. He is also survived by siblings, Auroris Rocha, Elizabeth Martinez and husband, Chon, Susan Trevino and husband, Frank, Clara Corpus and husband, Howard, Gloria Arechicga and husband, Robert, sister-in-law, Margaret Lopez, and daughter-in-laws, Renee Lopez and Regina Lopez. Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by Ralph Lopez, Raymond Lopez, Mr. and Mrs. Salvador Lopez, Ruby and Art Prieto, and Mary Ruiz.
