Gary Jay Suttle November 2, 1946 January 9, 2015 Gary Jay Suttle, of Prairie Hill, went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2015. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, at Prairie Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Fred Sain officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the church service. He was born on November 2, 1946, in Mexia, to Berta and J. B. Suttle. He resided in Prairie Hill his entire life except for the two years when he served on active duty in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1964. Gary married Sharon, his wife of forty-six years, in September of 1969. To this union was born two daughters, Steffany and Mary. Gary worked at the same job for thirty-six years until he retired in 2008. He was one of the founding members of the Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department, and served as Fire Chief for several years. He also volunteered wherever he was needed for the community that he loved during his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Steffany and Mary; his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Ed Smith, of Hewitt; his aunt, Millie Brown; one niece, Terry Smith and one nephew, Todd Smith. He leaves behind numerous friends in the community of Prairie Hill. Pallbearers are Bruce Jordan, Todd Smith, Bubba Carter, Shane Northcutt, Johnny Northcutt and Stell Waldrop. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Stafford and Danny Stafford. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Prairie Hill Community Center.
