Gary Roger Mitchell September 6, 1940 - April 3, 2009 Gary Roger Mitchell, 68 of Waco, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at Residence. A Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room with Ronnie Lawson officiating. Gary was born September 6, 1940 in Star, Texas to Haden Roger Mitchell and Lorane Knowles Mitchell. He graduated as Valedictorian from Evant High School in 1958. He attended Tarleton State University and graduated from The University of Texas in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, began a long and dedicated career at Rocketdyne in McGregor and continued with Hercules until his retirement in 2000. Gary was a loving husband, father and always a friend to those who knew him. He loved sports, especially football, working in his garden, walks, and rides, with his beloved dog, Charlie. An avid reader, he enjoyed American History, especially politics. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Texie. He is survived by his wife, Glynda; one daughter, Stephanie of Houston; a sister, Gailya Thorpe of Marble Falls, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
