Gene Glockzin of Lorena passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Royal Manor after battling with Lewy Body Dementia for 10 years. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Badger Ranch with Pastor James Menke officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Gene was born October 18, 1940, in Riesel, Texas, to Paul and Esther Glockzin and had three brothers, Alan, Jimmie, and Weldon. Gene met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Doty, in the 6th grade and worked up the courage to ask her out just six years later. They married in 1960 and had two boys, Ronny and Donald. Gene worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time at the lake. He loved watching sports and cheering for all of the local teams. His family was always a priority and he attended all of the boys’ games and helped the teams in any way he could. He rode motorcycles, and was a water skier, a pilot, sailor, a gardener, a camper, searched for geocache, worked on his own cars, and was very creative in building anything he needed. He was and still is a Cowboy, a Ranger, a Maverick, a Bear, a Cardinal and an Aggie. Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley; his two sons, Ronny and wife, Cherie, and Donald and wife, Patty; his grandchildren, Patrick Cole, Ashley and wife, Haley Dietrich, Christopher, Natalee, Jake, Tristan, and Kaitlyn Fowler.
