Genefa Ellis Watson October 12, 1918 - January 28, 2008 Genefa Ellis Watson of Waco passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, at Eddy Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Hughes officiating. There would be three other children born after her. She started very early in life doing things for other people. She got her first paying job when she was in her teens. She was very skilled in typing and could easily type 80 to 100 wpm. She Loved God and her family and anything she set out to do was done well. She was never just a member of an organization or a church. She would teach Sunday school classes and lead young peoples choirs. Genefa was an award winning bowler. She worked for Central Freight and she put in many overtime hours helping with everything there was to do. Along with her parents she joined Emanuel Baptist Church and would lead out in many, many ways there. Genefa was an encourager and loved her pastor. She became The Wedding Planner and with our mothers baking and crocheting skills she would work with many brides and grooms. She became one of the the secretaries at EBC and that one job became many jobs. She did not want to but would finally give up her much loved IBM Selectric for a computer and, of course, she used it in an excellent way. Genefa did not cook at all but decided to publish a cook book of recipes from church members and other family and friends in 93. When EBC had their 70th Anniversary in 2000, she added other recipes and published another cookbook. During the 90s Genefa decided to learn to paint oils and she did this as she did everything else.with enthusiasm and joy and would go on to paint 100s of the beautiful pictures which she gave away to anyone that wanted one. Genefa was our big sister and we will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, M.G. Ellis. She is survived by sisters, Dora Majors of Brownwood, TX and Billie Cavitt and husband, Hugh of Kerrville, TX; and nephews, Joe Ben Majors and wife, Lisa of Brownwood, TX; Dan Ellis and wife, Sharron of Dallas, TX; and nieces, Melinda Ramsey and husband, Jon of Waco, TX; and Marilyn Fagan of Mesquite, TX.
