GENEVIEVE HOFFMAN Genevieve Harmon Hoffman, age 95 of Waco, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003 at a local nursing facility. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 at North’s Funeral Home Chapel, 242 Orange St., Abilene, TX. Local arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Hoffman was born July 23, 1908 in Annin Township, McKean County, PA to Seward Eugene Harmon and Mary Giesser Harmon. She married Paul Hoffman on June 27, 1934. She was a resident of Abilene from 1956 to 1995. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, a brother and a sister. Mrs. Hoffman was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Buttrick Chapter #109 in Bolivar, NY. She was a graduate of Lockhaven State Teacher’s College in Lockhaven, PA. She taught and tutored grade school children in Pennsylvania, New York and Texas for over 50 years. A resident of Abilene for over 40 years, she was active with the St. Paul United Methodist Church’s kindergarten program and was a member of the First United Methodist Church at the time of her death. Survivors include Brent Hoffman and wife Margaret of Crawford; grandchildren, Melinda Barlow and husband Rob of Burleson, Brad Hoffman and wife Bernie of Katy and Brock Hoffman of Austin; one great granddaughter and four great grandsons. Memorials may be made to Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, TX 76708.
