Genevieve Strevell

Genevieve Strevell December 27, 1908 – August 22, 2006 Mrs. Genevieve Stuart Strevell, died August 22, 2006 in Galveston, Texas. Services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, August 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room Chapel. Visitation with the family will be Friday, August 25 from 6 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Strevell was born December 27, 1908 in Howard, New York and resided in Waco, Texas from 1975 – 2005. She graduated from New York State Teachers College in Geneseo, New York and taught for five years before marrying Wallace H. Strevell, June 29, 1933. Dr. Strevell died in 1986. Mrs. Strevell was an active member of Waco’s First Presbyterian Church. In addition to public school teaching, she was Children’s Librarian for Meyer Branch Library, Houston, when it was opened. She was involved through the years in PTA, University Women’s Organizations, PEO – Chapter CD, Sunday school and church groups. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Edwin Joann Mueller of Scottsdale, Arizona and Mrs. Alan Kathleen Seely of Carmel, California; two sons, Wallace H. Strevell of Reno, Nevada and Robert S. Strevell of Galveston, Texas; sister, Mrs. James Sleight of Florida; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family has designated memorials to Golden Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church, Waco or charity of choice.
