George H. Jim Bancroft

GEORGE H. BANCROFT George H. Jim Bancroft, age 85, of Waco, passed away Friday, December 6, 2002. Services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 9 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Janne Alro Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Sunday, December 8 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Jim was born October 9, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Arizona State University and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Mary Martha Raber on September 27, 1952. Jim worked for Goodyear Aerospace and retired in 1980. He and Martha moved to Waco in 1986. Jim faithfully served as a member of the vestry and as a sr. warden at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. He was a loving husband, daddy, papa, brother and friend. Survivors include his beloved wife, Martha; daughters, Nancy Day and husband, John of Waco and Jill Ralston and husband, Bob of Avon Lake, Ohio; grandchildren, Kyle, Jessica, Derek, Marta, and Brad; brother, Charles Y. Bancroft and wife, Ann of Memphis, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Memorial or Endowment Fund.
