George Owen Derting, Jr.

DERTING, JR., GEORGE O. George O. Derting, Jr., age 79, of Hewitt, died Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at a Temple hospital. Services will be 3:30PM Saturday, August 18th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Mike Toby officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 7:00-8:00PM Friday, August 17th at the funeral home. Mr. Derting was born March 22, 1922 in Moody. He was reared and educated in Waco. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII where he was a paratrooper. He married Ellouise Inman April 26, 1945. He was employed as an electrician in Waco for over 30 years at Tom Cuff Electric and Hensel Electric. He retired in 1986. Mr. Derting was a member of Woodway First Baptist Church and I.B.E.W. He was an avid golfer. He was loved by all who knew him, especially his family and friends. Survivors include: Wife: Ellouise Derting of Hewitt Daughter: Brenda Smith and husband, Judge Walter Smith of Waco Son: Joey Wayne Derting and wife, Gail of Fremont, CA Brother: B. Gene Derting and wife, Helen of Rhome, TX Niece: Louise Abel and husband, Jimmy of Crawford Pallbearers will be Steve Derting, Mike Abel, Jimmy Abel, Charlie Miller, Leslie Fincher, Karl Kennon, and Cody Kennon.
