George V. Cobb

August 9, 1932 — July 10, 2004

George V. Cobb, 71, of Waco passed away July 10, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He died at home surrounded by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Albans Episcopal Church Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 11:00 am with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. Burial services will be private. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, July 13, 2004 from 6-8 pm in the Garden Room at the funeral home. Mr. Cobb was born on Aug. 9, 1932 in Sparks, Tx. He joined the Navy in 1948 at the age of 15. After serving 4 years in the Navy, he attended college at Arlington State and the University of Texas. He married the love of his life, Jeanine Burt on June 1st 1956. He worked as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry for 38 years, 34 of those years were spent at Rocketdyne/Hercules in McGregor, TX. He was also a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church. He was active with the Veterans of Underage Military Service VUMS; an officer in the Parkdale/Viking Hills Neighborhood Association and volunteered with Citizens on Patrol. Survivors include his wife, Jeanine; daughters, Kristen Genitempo and husband Greg of Katy, Dana Rowe and husband Pete of Mart, Paige Rodgers and husband Larry of Burleson; grandchildren, Joseph Matthew Genitempo, Andrew Gregory Genitempo, Robert Wade Schlemmer, Kristen Paige Schlemmer, Larry Reid Rodgers, Blake Edward Rodgers and Blake Rowe. Other survivors include: Herb Binion, John and Dixie Hagler, Wanda Chandler and Fern Hempel and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Alban’s Memorial Fund or favorite charity. Special thanks to Carmen Saenz, JoAnn Bristol, Dr. Jim Pettit and all of our wonderful neighbors.
