BYRN, SR., GERALD WAYNE Gerald Wayne Byrn, Sr., age 64 of Waco died Tuesday, November 4, 2003 in Glen Rose, Texas. Services will be held at 10am Friday, November 7 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Jan Lovett and Dr. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, November 6 at the funeral home. Gerald was born on December 25, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Wayne and Mildred Byrn. He was a graduate of Mayfield High School and Murray State University, both in Kentucky. Gerald married Sue Moore on June 12, 1963. Major Byrn U.S. Army-Retired served for 20 years and after retiring from active duty was employed by General Tire, H & B Contractors, and The American Red Cross. In 1996, he and his wife purchased and began operating The Ice Cream Co. at the Richland Mall. Among his many community activities he served in the PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Midway Booster Club. He was also an active member of Woodway First United Methodist Church for more than 20 years. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Trulie and husband, Jerry Trevathan of Waco, daughter, Margaret and husband, Raul Guevara of McAllen, daughter, Angela and husband, Michael Kusler of Waco, son, Gerry Byrn of Stephenville and Gerry’s girlfriend Shelley Tidwell and her son Justin of Granbury. PawPaw’s grandchildren are Justin, Jarrod and Jami Trevathan, Raul and Elizabeth Guevara, and Courtney, Kaley, Cody and Kaden Kusler. Gerald is also survived by his sister, Gwen Helfer, his brother, Kenneth Byrn, his niece, Kim Davis and great niece, Lexie Davis, all of Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Gerry Byrn, Kenneth Byrn, George Moore, Norman Conner, Jack Adams, Jim Todd, Norman Millsap and Eldon Warner. Honorary pallbearer is Ron Watts.
