Gerda M. Kochman

Gerda Kochman Gerda M. Kochman died at her California home on March 16, 2005. Graveside services will be at Temple Rodef Sholom's cemetery on March 20 at 10:30 A.M. with Rabbi Mordecai Podet leading the service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Dr. Walter Kochman, former Waco physician who preceded her in death in April 1996, and her son Dr. Peter Kochman, former Waco pediatrician who preceded her in death in October 1989. Mrs. Kochman was born in Germany on November 19, 1908. She graduated from medical school in Berlin, Germany, where she met her husband, Dr. Walter Kochman. They married in September 1936. They moved to the United States in 1938, and became residents of Waco in 1939. In March 2001, Mrs. Kochman moved to California to be near her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. Kochman is survived by her daughter, Joan Kochman Weil, son-in-law Fred Weil, and grandchildren Mike Weil, Lisa Weil, and Julie Weil Brown, grandson-in-law David Brown and two great grandchildren, all who reside in northern California. She is survived by her son's children, her grandchildren Ted Kochman and grand-daughter-in-law Holly Kochman of Waco, Sam Kochman and grand-daughter-in-law Rifka Kochman of New York, Heather Kochman Walls and grand-son-in-law Mike Walls of Austin, and Rachel Kochman Shupee and grand-son-in-law Stephen Shupee of Forth Worth, and eight great grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her family and many friends whose lives she touched in such positive ways for more than 96 years.
