Gloria Jean Fikes passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, at First Baptist Church of Waco, with Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas, at 12:00 p.m. Gloria was born March 9, 1947, in Marlin, to James Nathaniel Adams, a police officer, and Nelene Rowena Lamson Adams, a licensed vocational nurse. She attended school at Eagle Lake, Texas, and graduated from Wharton High School, Wharton, Texas, in 1965. Gloria attended Wharton Junior College and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BBA degree in 1969. She became a CPA in 1975. While living in Marlin, she was a member of First Baptist Church Marlin. In the early 1990s, she served terms as president and secretary of the Marlin Chamber of Commerce, president and secretary of the Rotary Club of Marlin, treasurer of Marlin Festival Days, and was elected to the Marlin Independent School District Board of Trustees. She moved to Waco in 2002, where she was a member of the Rotary Club of Waco and First Baptist Church of Waco. Gloria was a retired CPA, CFE, and a former shareholder in the accounting firm of Parrish, Moody & Fikes, P.C. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Christopher Edison Fikes of Las Vegas; brother, Rodney Lee Adams and wife, Cindy, of Conroe, Texas; nephews, Robert Lee Adams and wife, Stephanie, of Rockwall, Texas, James Ross Adams and wife, Michelle, and their two children, Randy Adams and wife, Robin, and their two children, and Ronnie Adams and wife, Rebecca, and their 4 children; grandchildren in my heart, Kylee Alaine Adams, Kamryn Elizabeth Adams and Matthew Cade Adams; her double cousin, Rosalee Adams Schraeder; and special friends, the Patterson Ladies, Elizabeth Dietrich, Jean Ann Hoover, Pam Hughes, Abby Sobel, Lenora Crowder, Georganne Ferguson, and her special Wharton girls. Pallbearers are Elgin LaSrape, Mac Hughes, Curtis Moore, Rodney Oliver, James Jones, and Kermit Lowe. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bill Parrish Memorials may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or First Baptist Church of Waco.
