Gordon Ross Sims, 95, of Waco, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Darin Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral service.
Gordon was born January 20, 1928 in Cedar Hill to Lafayette Herbert Sims and Nellie Elliott Sims. Gordon was a graduate of Cedar Hill High School. He later served his country in the US Navy at the end of World War II. Gordon was a successful car dealership owner at B&D Motors in Irving for over 25 years before his retirement. He then moved to the Lake Air Tower Condominiums in Waco to be near his sister, Evelyn Youngblood.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Elliott Sims; father, Lafayette Herbert Sims; and sister, Evelyn Youngblood.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Deneen McWhirter, son, Steven Scott Sims, son, Gordon Ross Sims, Jr. and daughter, Suzanne Hall.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
