Grace Allen Stewart Brister

BRISTER, GRACE ALLEN STEWART Grace Allen Stewart Brister, 85 of Waco, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Services will be at 1:30pm Friday, January 21 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with the Reverend Ron Durham, pastor of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, January 20 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mrs. Brister was born May 13, 1919 in Natchez, Mississippi. She graduated from high school in Natchez and attended Mississippi State College for Women. She was one of the first stewardesses for Delta Airlines during the 1940’s. She married Andy Brister in 1946, moved to Waco and raised two daughters. After her daughters were grown, she enjoyed taking care of babies at several church day care nurseries in Waco. She was an active member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, and a niece. Survivors include her daughters, Mimi Prim and Andrea Maddux and husband, John all of Waco; grandchildren, Jenny Prim of Ennis, Matt Prim of Dallas, Kelly McCarver and husband, Jeremy of Waco, and Kyle Maddux of Waco; brother, Bill Stewart of Natchez, Mississippi and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, 1300 Columbus Avenue, Waco, Texas 76701.
