KNIGHT, GRACE Grace Knight, age 93, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at a Houston nursing home. Services will be held at 10:00AM Friday, April 26 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 7:00-9:00PM Thursday, April 25 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Knight was born on July 19, 1908 at Bruceville, Texas, the daughter of Felix Ansalem and Lucinda Mixson Flowers. She was the great-granddaughter of Texas Ranger Captain Thomas Hudson Barron, the builder and commander of the original Fort Fisher. She attended Eddy schools, graduated from Waco High School, and received a degree in French and Sociology from Southern Methodist University. As a teacher in Waco and Lorena, she touched the lives of many young people. On December 24, 1941, she married Robert Randal Knight, and they celebrated forty-nine years together. Mrs. Knight was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Bible Moderator, President of Presbyterian Women and as a deacon. She was active in DAR, DRT, PEO, Historic Waco Foundation, Brazos Forum, Delta Kappa Gamma, and A.A.U.W. and enjoyed membership in the Euterpean Club and the Crescent Club. She served on the board of the Y.W.C.A., the Evangelia Settlement, and Hamilton House. With her husband, she was a charter member of Ridgewood Country Club. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents; three sisters, Maurine Flowers Hatch, Linda Flowers Urbanovsky, and Blanche Flowers Stanford; and one nephew, Overton Stanford, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Knight Wier and husband, Tom; her son, Robert Latham Knight and wife, Janet; four grandchildren, Amy Knight Ware and husband, Brooks; Kathleen Taylor Knight; Thomas Randal Wier; and Patrick Knight Wier; and one great-grandson, Jackson Wayne Ware, all of Houston; a niece, Ruth Stanford and two great-nephews, Jim and David Stanford, of Lorena. Honorary pallbearers are Arlin C. Horne, Leon McFarland, Edgar Jablonowski, Dr. Walker Lea, Lewis McReynolds, Foy DuBois, Jim Payne, James Cook, Douglas Duty, Carl Carpenter, Lyndon Olson, Sr., Dr. T. P. Wier, Jr., Melvin McNair, Donny McNair, and Larry McNair. The family has designated the First Presbyterian Church of Waco or the charity of choice for memorial contributions. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
