Grace S. Johnson

Grace S. Johnson December 17, 1922 – March 29, 2006 Grace Johnson entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Rynearson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Grace was born December 17, 1922 in Riesel, TX to Alfred and Meta Wiebusch Scherff. She and George W. Johnson, Jr. were married on December 31, 1951 in Kansas City, MO. She followed her husband to many stations with the US Air Force. In her later years Grace managed The Uniform Shop. Grace has been a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hewitt. She was actively involved with such organizations as the Waco Senior Kiwanis and Retired Officers Association. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Col. George W. Johnson, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Ruby Pick, nieces: Kathy and Tom Fehler, Gwen and Mike Harris, Debbie and Curtis Dollins, Lana and Craig Stricklin; and nephews: Glenn and Pam Pick, Mike and Debi Pick, Paul and Leslie Pick, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a close friend, John D. Webb. Memorial donations may be made to Peace Lutheran.
