Greg Richie

Greg Richie was 77 years old when he died peacefully in Ascension Providence's Hospice Care unit Friday, February 28, 2025. He was initially hospitalized with RSV pneumonia but was also discovered to have an advanced and untreatable abdominal malignancy. 

A celebration of life for Richie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Renew Church of Waco, with The Reverend Wayne Williams officiating.

Greg was born in Abilene, Texas to Gloria and Howard Richie. He was a 'military brat' and did much of his growing up in Germany, where his father was stationed in the U.S. Army. He attended Shriner Institute in Kerrville, TX and graduated from the University of Texas.

Greg often said that the happiest days of his life followed his move to Waco in 2004. He regularly attended several early morning Bible Study groups and Renew Church, and he treasured his many friendships in his religious community. He is survived by his older brother, Rodney Richie MD.
