Gwen L. Wood December 12, 1926 July 06, 2008 Gwen L. Wood, age 81, of Waco passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Father Phillip Kruse officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 6 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Gwen was born December 12, 1926 in DeLeon, TX to Archie and Betty Johnston. She was a member of Bellmead First Baptist Church and was a member of the Bellmead Eastern Star for over 50 years. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 39 years, Leonard P. Wood; and her two sisters, Marjorie Taub and Betty Griffith. Survivors include her children, Ron Wood and wife, Donna of Hillsboro; Lynette Leber and husband, Nick of Irving; grandchildren, Douglas Wood, Chantz Wade, Nathan Wood and wife, Shannon; and Megan Wood; great grandchildren, Makayla Johnson and Garrett Wood; many loving nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Pallbearers are Douglas Wood, Chantz Wade, Nicholas Leber, Tony Leber, Chase Hill and Michael LeCompte. Dr. Michael Attas will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
