Gwendolyn Claypool January 18, 1937 - March 8, 2015 Gwendolyn Claypool of Waco passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Gwen was born January 18, 1937, in West Virginia to Arthur and Stella Martin. While living on the East Coast, she was actively involved in women's rights, including passage of the equal rights amendment and the League of Women Voters. After moving to Waco in 1976, she was president of the Waco Symphony Council, on the board of the Historic Waco Foundation, the Art Center, the League of Women Voters, Brazos Forum, and many others. Gwen was a florist, and for many years, she had her own business, "Potpourri". In later years she was an avid reader, gardener and grandkid wrangler. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob; sons, Gary and David Claypool; daughters, Rebecca and Sherry Claypool; seven grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Jonathan, Henry and Emma Claypool, Austin and Isabella Kuehl; two brothers, Danny and Paul Martin; and one sister, Dova Harris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Symphony, Historic Waco Foundation, Art Center of Waco or Alzheimer Association.
