H. E. Laird

LAIRD, BUCK H. E. Buck Laird, age 90, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2001. Services will be held 11:30AM Monday, November 5th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held 2:00-4:00PM November 4th at the funeral home. Mr. Laird was born December 12, 1910 in Falls County, Texas near the town of Reagan to Jesse B. and Carrie R. Laird. On April 22, 1938 he married Mildred Walsh of Waco. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in France and England during World War II. Prior to and after the war he owned and /or managed several restaurants in the central Texas area. He also worked in the construction industry in various capacities until opening a lumberyard and becoming a self-employed homebuilder in Waco in 1950 until retiring some 30 years later. Survivors include his wife: Mildred of Waco, sons: Allen Laird of Waco, Richard Laird of Denton, and Ronnie Laird and wife, Mitzi of Waco, daughter: Patricia Laird and husband, Diego of Denton, brother: Wade Laird of Waco, sisters: Edna Bryant of Waco and Irene Best of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, grandchildren: Matthew Laird and wife, Cyndy of Dallas, Brent Laird of Dallas, Sally Banks and husband, Rafe of Pensacola, Florida, Mark Laird of Austin, and Jenna Laird of Waco.
