H. Ron Gregory

December 26, 1937 — October 10, 2003

H. RON GREGORY H. Ron Gregory, 65, loving husband and caring friend, passed away Friday, October 10th, 2003. Ron’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service Monday, October 13th at 1:30 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with the Rev. David Story officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 12th at the funeral home. Ron was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on December 26, 1937. He graduated from Del Rio High School and attended Arlington State University. Prior to entering the insurance industry, Ron worked at Montgomery Wards and was instrumental in the early development of Speegleville and Lake Waco marinas. In 1971 Ron entered the insurance industry and for the next 32 years he developed a successful insurance agency. During his career, he earned many awards for his outstanding sales, production and performance. He was a past president of the Waco Association of Life Underwriters. In 1983 his interests diversified and he encouraged and assisted his wife in creating a gift and collectible store, The Gift Horse. Ron’s friends will fondly remember his zest for hunting, love of automobiles, passion for boating and enthusiasm for life. Ron was currently serving as Commodore of the Ridgewood Country Club Yacht Club. Ron is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gayle; mother, Mildred H. Page; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Larry Freeman of Salado; his children, Elizabeth BE-BE Porras of Arlington, Sherri Elwood of Waco, Hobert Hobie Gregory of Grand Prairie; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three nieces; father-in-law, Vernon Kunshick and wife Teddie of Sun City; cousins, Douglas Katz of Annapolis, Maryland and Leslie Amcaro of Willmington, North Carolina; his devoted cat Halloween; and a host of wonderful, caring and fun loving friends who will all miss his smiling face. Memorial contributions may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, 6321 Airport Road, Waco, TX 76708, or your favorite charity. Ron lived a wonderful, full life and as an organ donor, his legacy of caring will live on. A special thanks to the Hillcrest trauma team, Dr. Ted Smith, Lori Boyett and special friends Dr. Gary Geldmeier and Dr. Wayne Falcone for guiding us through this tragedy.
