H. T. Sexton

SEXTON, H. T. H. T. Sexton, 73 of Gholson died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be at 9:30am Friday, July 9 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Masonic and military graveside services will follow at Gholson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, July 8 at the funeral home Garden Room. Mr. Sexton was born October 18, 1930 in Akron, Ohio. He was retired from the Air Force. He was a farmer and rancher and owned a small trucking company. He was the mayor of Gholson for 28 years. He had been the fire chief of Lacy Lakeview and Gholson. He was fire chief in Gholson for over 20 years. He was a member and past president of the Texas T’s of the Karem Shrine, past master of West Lodge #475, and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a 33rd Degree Mason. He was also a member and past director of the Jesters Court #115. He had recently been elected to the Board of directors of the Heart of Texas Fair. His passion was cooking and he had been a chef in the Air Force. He loved cooking for community churches, his lodge, the shrine fish fry, fire department fund raisers, and Gholson School and family gatherings and especially for all his friends. He and his wife hosted fund raiser trail rides for the Gholson Volunteer Fire Department on their property for several years. Survivors include wife, Carol Sexton; stepdaughters, Kim Pfeiffer and Tammy Wiley all of Gholson; son, Joe T. Sexton and Gloria of New Jersey; grandchildren, Fawn Barlow and husband, Kris of Hewitt, Joseph Sexton and Linda of Whitney, and Howard Sexton and wife, Kassandra of Hillsboro; great grandchildren, MacKinze and Mallory Sexton; sister, Joanne Robinson and husband, Jim of Ohio, sister-in-law, Betty Sexton of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be The Texas T’s of the Karem Shrine and the honorary pallbearers are The Divan of Karem Shrine. Memorials may be made to Gholson Volunteer Fire Department of Karem Shrine Temple General Fund, 400 Karem Circle, Waco, TX 76712.
