DUKE, HAROLD Harold Duke, age 86, of Waco died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 11:30AM Saturday, August 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6:30-8:30PM Friday, August 2 at the funeral home. Mr. Duke was born October 24, 1915 in Eddy to George and Georgia Duke, where he was reared and educated. He graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School. He moved to Chicago where he worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 35 years. He took time out from 1944-46 when he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He married Letha Pauline Elder November 1, 1937. She preceded him in death October 22, 1968. He married Elvira Rey August 14, 1970. Upon retirement from Sears he moved back to the Waco area where he enjoyed ranching and pursued a second career in real estate. Survivors include his wife, Elvira Duke of Waco; daughters, Carole Anne Gebel and husband, James of Hayward, California and Connie June Chester and husband, Gary of Elmhurst, Illinois; son, Robert Harold Duke and wife, Sandy of Richland, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee, Wendy Anne, Suzanne Elizabeth and Bryan Gary; and sisters, Louise Breda and husband, Emerson of San Jose, California and their children, Karen and Andy.
