Harold Kendrick Bolger

November 11, 1914 — March 2, 2002

BOLGER, HAROLD Harold K. Bolger, age 87, of Waco, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at a local nursing home. Services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Malcolm Bolger, Rev. Paul Talley and Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Monday, March 4, 2002 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Bolger was born in Hewitt, Texas on November 25, 1914 to John T. and Lena K. Bolger. He attended school in Hewitt and graduated from Waco High School in 1932. He attended Baylor University from 1935-1940, working as a custodian in Pat Neff’s office. Mr. Bolger lettered in Varsity baseball and basketball. He graduated from Baylor in 1940 with a BA in Education and in 1947 with a MA degree. Mr. Bolger has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waco since 1931, and a member of the Wesleyan Workers Sunday School Class since 1950. He was a coach and teacher in Carbon, Texas from 1940-1942. In 1942, Mr. Bolger was commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy and served his country in the Pacific during World War II. He continued his service in the Navy in the Naval Reserve until 1973, retiring as a Captain. Mr. Bolger worked as a civilian in Management at James Connally AFB from 1953-1965. He retired from the US Veteran’s Administration as a Rehabilitation Supervisor in 1981. He was married to Belle Queen in 1942. She preceded him in death on January 5, 1989. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Edward and John Bolger, Jr. and a sister, Faye Chapman. Survivors include daughter Mary K. Jasek and husband Edward; granddaughters Amy Jones and husband Ben, Jane Talley and husband Paul, Chandra Londenberg and husband Danny; grandsons Edward Jasek, Jr. and wife Ginger and Lt. Marc Jasek U.S.N and wife Annette; great grandchildren Lauren K. Jones, Vance E. Jones and Daniel C. Londenberg; sister-in-law Jonelle Sleeper; brother-in-law John Sleeper; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Edward Perry Bolger, Col. John T. Bolger, III, Dr. Christopher Crow and Dr. John B. Chapman. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Fuqua, David Goodwin, Marvin Mercer, Pete Creasey, Col. Al Haveman, James Landfair, Richard Wooten, Andy Ramsey and Johnny Appell. The family would like to thank the employees at Royal Manor Nursing Facility for their compassion and care during our “Dad Dad’s” last days. Memorials may be made to the Senior Ministry at First United Methodist Church or the Waco Family Abuse Center. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
