Harold Monroe Miles, 90, passed away November 19, 2016 at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to services on Friday, November 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park. Uncle Bud was born in Moshem, TX on March 9, 1926 to William Monroe and Vivian (Odle) Miles. He moved to Waco in 1940. After graduating from Waco High School, he joined the US Navy and served on a LCI Gunboat for two years during World War II in the Pacific Fleet where he and his shipmates were responsible for securing the Palau Islands. Shortly before the utilization of the atomic bomb, he was deployed, staged and readied in preparation for a ground invasion of Japan. After separation from military service, he worked for the US Post Office from 1948 until his retirement in 1981. He was a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 25 years. He was also a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Waco, where he loved to serve in the toddler room until his health required him to move to San Antonio, Tx. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sue Miles Livingston, niece, Deborah Sue, and nephew, William David Livingston. Survivors include and will be greatly missed by his nephew, Russell Miles Livingston, his great-niece and nephews, Jenny Hill, Riley, Austin, Tessa, Micah and Ethan Livingston and extended family and friends.
