Harry J. Trippet

Harry J. Trippet July 19, 1918 - September 6, 2007 After a long and happy life, Harry J. Trippet died on September 6, 2007. His parents were Horace Enoch and Fay Hood Trippet. He had three brothers, Joe, Horace Bud, and William Bill. His parents and brothers preceded him in death. Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jimmie Johnson officiating. Harry was born in Hico, Texas, on July 19, 1918, and moved to Waco at the age of 2. He attended Waco public schools and Baylor University, where he was a member of the Nose Brotherhood. He served in the Signal Section of the Army Air Corps in World War II. In 1950, he married his best friend Pattie Rose Early in the backyard of the house where he grew up. They had two daughters, Serena and Fay. He taught them the essentials of life: how to be a good friend, how to listen, and how to laugh. His wonderful sense of humor was cherished by all who knew him and will be remembered. He never turned away a friend in need. He taught his daughters, granddaughters, nieces and nephews how to hunt, fish, mix drinks and tell a good story. He taught the importance of family, and his relationship with his brother Bud was the best example. He worked as an insurance adjuster, became a farmer and rancher and eventually a contractor. He became active in Republican party affairs in the 1950’s, serving as precinct and county chairman and on the Texas State Board. He was a delegate to the 1961 Republican National Convention in San Francisco. He served on the Brazos River Authority for several years, making trips to Washington to petition Congress for funds. He enjoyed his regular Pitch games with friends, fishing in Port O’Connor and the commraderie of the Spit and Whittle Club. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, driving through foreign countries and the US. Survivors are his wife, Pattie Rose; daughters, Serena Early of Missoula, Montana; and Fay Swann of Waco; granddaughters, Betsy and Alice and many nieces and nephews.
